Apoio a vitimas LGBT: ILGA Portugal assinou uma carta de compromisso com a Secretaria de Estado para a Cidadania e Igualdade que tem como finalidade a atribuição de uma subvenção para a criação de um Serviço de Apoio a Vítimas LGBT (SAV LGBT).

"A palestra teve lugar no Centro Municipal da Cultura e estiveram presentes na mesa de honra eu, Pedro Morais, fundador do movimento Ponta Delgada LGBT, o Pedro Neves, representante da PAN Açores, a Vereadora da Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada, a Dra. Fátima Rego, o Tiago Paquete, membro do movimento e a D. Clarisse Canha, representante da UMAR Açores. Apresentamos estratégias para combater o preconceito e a discriminação contra a Comunidade LGBT de Ponta Delgada e eu apresentei o meu movimento á sociedade. Ainda estivemos a debater sobre a juventude que está inserida na comunidade LGBT e o que podemos fazer para alanvancar a educação dos jovens relativamente a este tema." - Pedro Morais

Temos que nos unir e lutarmos contra o preconceito. Só assim poderemos impedir que mais desastres destes aconteçam novamente." - Pedro Morais, organizador da vigília

Are there gay clubs and hotels in Azores?
NO, there are no known businesses in the Azores that are seen or publicly run as "gay" or "LGBT", as one can find in many cities around the world. There are many gay-friendly places, especially in the cities. But yet, until this day, only one business has come forward to support our organization directly: ARCO 8 (Santa Barbara neighbourhood of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel island) has offered its space for the organization to do events.
In terms of hotels, most are very gay-friendly. Respect is tops in these businesses in Azores, but if you have any problems, please do get in touch with us prideazores@gmail.com

Azores are 9 islands located in the middle of Atlantic Ocean (autonomous region of Portugal under the Portuguese Government Law). Each island is very distinct from one other. Especially outside the cities, some of the rural communities have never communicated openly with an out gay man or lesbian - even though they exist amongst them.
